Detailed Itinerary

Day 1: Istanbul | Istanbul Welcome Tour

You will be met by your guide either at Istanbul International Airport (for Pre-Cruise) or at the Port of Istanbul (for Post-Cruise) and transferred to your hotel by private vehicle. After checking into your hotel, you will have some time to relax.

In the mid-afternoon, you will begin your half-day tour of the wonderful highlights of Istanbul. First, we will visit the Turkish and Islamic Arts Museum situated opposite the Blue Mosque; one of the first buildings in Europe purpose-built to be a museum. Next, we will visit the Basilica Cistern, a very well preserved, unique marvel of engineering used since the Roman times to supply Constantinople with fresh water. This amazing underground cavern, having a capacity of 80,000 cubic meters of water, stands on 336 beautiful columns that support the cistern, most of which were salvaged from pagan temples destroyed during the Roman Empire’s conversion to Christianity.

At the end of the day, you will return to your hotel. Dinner recommended at your hotel or nearby traditional restaurants. Overnight in Istanbul.

Day 2: Istanbul | Best of Istanbul Tour

After breakfast, your guide will meet you at the hotel lobby for your full-day tour of Old City Istanbul. Following a short drive across the Galata Bridge, we will drop off at the heart of the old city, walk the historic streets of Istanbul.

First, we will visit the Hippodrome; the central square that was once used as a horse racing arena during the Roman and Byzantine times, still adorned with the ancient monuments such as the Snake Column from Delphi, an ancient Egyptian obelisk taken from the Temple of Karnak at Luxor, and the “German Fountain”  commissioned as a gift by Wilhelm II of Germany. Next, we will visit Hagia Sophia, one of the greatest marvels of Byzantine architecture built by Justinian, the once biggest dome in the world, with its grand pillars from Ephesus. Afterwards, the tour will continue with the Blue Mosque (Sultanahmet Camii), famous with its blue Iznik porcelain tiles and unique with 6 minarets. The day will continue with a visit to the Topkapi Palace, a huge walled complex hugging the Bosporus, the former palace of the Ottoman Sultans that is now a museum with an extraordinary collection of Chinese porcelain, art, artifacts and jewels including the Topkapi Diamond, and relics from the Prophet Mohammed.  Following Lunch at a local restaurant, we will head towards the Grand Bazaar, the largest and the oldest covered market place in the world with more than 4,000 shops in the labyrinth of streets. Enjoy the colorful array of shops that offer an endless selection of goods that includes jewelry, fabrics, spices and local handicrafts. After all the visits, you will be transferred to your Hotel. Overnight in Istanbul. (Breakfast, Lunch)

Day 3: Istanbul | Golden Horn and Bosphorus Tour

Following your breakfast and check out from the hotel, we will move out for your full day tour of the Golden Horn and Bosphorus. We will walk the historic streets to the Suleymaniye Mosque, constructed by the great Ottoman architect Mimar Sinan in 1557 in the name of Suleiman the Magnificent, also housing the tomb of Roxelana. It is regarded as the most beautiful of all imperial mosques. Afterwards, we will proceed to the Chora Church (13. Cent. A.D.), famous for its well-preserved wall-mosaics showing scenes from both the Old and New Testament. After driving along the Golden Horn, we will go to the Spice Bazaar (Egyptian Bazaar), famous for its immense selection of spices like saffron, oregano, mint, cinnamon, henna for the hair, special Turkish spices for meat, different kinds of pepper, Turkish sweets such as baklava, lokum, and a huge variety of herbal tea. Lunch will be served in a Kebab Restaurant overlooking the Bosphorus where you can taste the Turkish Kitchen.
