Basic Itinerary

  • Day 1: Arrival at Istanbul | Transfer to your hotel; Some good local restaurants can be pointed out for dinner this evening.
  • Day 2: Istanbul | Sightseeing including the Roman Hippodrome, Blue Mosque, Hagia Sophia, Topkapi Palace and the Grand Bazaar.
  • Day 3: Istanbul | Half day tour. Sightseeing including the Spice Market, a boat ride on the Bosphorus Strait for about an hour and a backroads walking tour.

Detailed Itinerary

Day 1: Istanbul | Welcome

You will be met by your guide at the Istanbul International Airport (IST) and transferred to your hotel. After checking into your hotel, you will have some time to relax.

Free leisure day afterwards. Overnight in Istanbul.

Day 2: Istanbul | Full Day Istanbul Tour

After breakfast, your guide will meet you at the hotel lobby for your full-day tour of Old City Istanbul. Following a short drive across the Galata Bridge, we will drop off at the heart of the old city, walk the historic streets of Istanbul.

First, we will visit the Hippodrome; the central square that was once used as a horse racing arena during the Roman and Byzantine times, still adorned with the ancient monuments such as the Snake Column from Delphi, an ancient Egyptian obelisk taken from the Temple of Karnak at Luxor, and the “German Fountain”  commissioned as a gift by Wilhelm II of Germany.

Next, we will visit Hagia Sophia, one of the greatest marvels of Byzantine architecture built by Justinian, the once biggest dome in the world, with its grand pillars from Ephesus. Afterwards, the tour will continue with the Blue Mosque (Sultanahmet Camii), famous with its blue Iznik porcelain tiles and unique with 6 minarets.

The day will continue with a visit to the Topkapi Palace, a huge walled complex hugging the Bosporus, the former palace of the Ottoman Sultans that is now a museum with an extraordinary collection of Chinese porcelain, art, artifacts and jewels including the Topkapi Diamond, and relics from the Prophet Mohammed.

Following Lunch at a local restaurant, we will head towards the Grand Bazaar, the largest and the oldest covered market place in the world with more than 4,000 shops in the labyrinth of streets. Enjoy the colorful array of shops that offer an endless selection of goods that includes jewelry, fabrics, spices and local handicrafts. After all the visits, you will be transferred to your Hotel. Overnight in Istanbul. (Breakfast, Lunch)

Day 3: Istanbul | Bosphorus Cruise and Spice Bazaar Tour

Following your breakfast the hotel, we will move out for your half day tour of Spice Bazaar and afterwards, your Bosphorus Cruise.

First, we will make a stop at the Spice Bazaar (Egyptian Bazaar), famous for its immense selection of spices like saffron, oregano, mint, cinnamon, henna for the hair, special Turkish spices for meat, different kinds of pepper, Turkish sweets such as baklava, lokum, and a huge variety of herbal tea.

Afterwards, we will board a specialized tour ferry for an exciting cruise along the Bosphorus Strait, from where you will see the grand Ottoman palaces and castles, including the Dolmabahce Palace, the Beylerbeyi Palace, and Rumeli Hisar and Anadolu Castles – your guide will narrate the history of the city and its landmarks throughout your Bosphorus cruise.

At the end of the cruise, we will transfer you to your hotel for a leisure day afterwards. Overnight in Istanbul. (Breakfast, Lunch)

Day 4: Canakkale | Gallipoli, Dardanelles

After breakfast and check out at the hotel, we will immediatelly depart via coach towards Canakkale. Upon arrival, we will first visit the Battlefields of Gallipoli, situated about 15 km from Canakkale. This tour will give you the chance to explore one of the most drastic lands of war where many nations have lost their lives.

You will be transferred to a local ferry, which functions between two continents, from the Asian to the European side via the famous strait Dardanelles. Gallipoli National Park has a great significance in military history being the soil on which the notorious battles of the Gallipoli Campaign of WWI took place, which contains Turkish and Allied monuments. The landscape is dotted with many cemeteries, museums, monuments, forests and most importantly Memorials honoring the lives lost from both sides of the conflict. The Military Monument in the National Park is dedicated to commemorate the soldiers who lost their lives. We will also visit the Anzac Cove. After visiting the battlefields, we will visit Kabatepe Hill National Park. The tour will continue with ferry to return to Canakkale.
After the tour you willbe transfered to your hotel.

Day 5: Kusadasi | Troy, Pergamon, Asclepion

After breakfast and check out at the hotel, the day will start with a visit to Hisarlik Hill, the site of the ancient city of Troy, where you will learn about the mythology surrounding the city; the Trojan Horse, which was recently renovated and replaced with the version used in the 2004 blockbuster movie of the same name; as well as the history and discoveries of the archeological excavations initiated by the famous archeologist Heinrich Schliemann in 1870’s.

From there, we will depart via coach towards Kusadasi, but will first visit the city of Pergamon (also spelled Pergamum) en route, built on a conical hill well above sea level, home to two of Turkey’s most celebrated archaeological sites: Pergamum acropolis, and the medical center of Asclepion. Both are listed among the top 100 historical sites in the Mediterranean. We will see the famed library, the terrace of the spectacularly sited hillside theater, the main palace, and the Altar of Zeus.

Afterwards, we will see the propylaeum of the Temple of Athena. In early Christianity, Pergamum’s church was a major center of the Christian faith, and was one of the Seven Churches of Revelation.

Asclepion (also spelled Asclepium), the birthplace of Galen, was a center of medicine in the ancient world; the teachings of which have dominated Europe from 2nd Century AD up until Renaissance.

After the tours, we will go to the hotel for check-in and overnight stay in Kusadasi. (Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner)

Day 6: Kusadasi | Ephesus, House of Virgin Mary

Following breakfast, we will immediatelly start our tours of the day by visiting Ephesus.

One of the world’s finest examples of an ancient classical city, Ephesus was once the most important and prominent city in Asia Minor, predating even Constantinople. It housed the Temple of Artemis (Diana), the site of one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World; House of Virgin Mary, probably where She spent the latter years of Her life.

In the afternoon, we will visit the village of Sirince, a charming old Turkish mountain village where you can enjoy the relaxed atmosphere ans beautiful scenery. The slopes of the hills are covered with wine yards and peach trees. You will visit a mosque and Orthodox church and you can try some fruity wine in one of the small cafés.

After the tour, you will be transferred to your hotel. Overnight in Kusadasi. (Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner)

Day 7: Pamukkale | Pamukkale, Hierapolis

After breakfast and check out at the hotel, we will hit the road for our 3 hour drive towards the city of Denizli, where the famous ancient roman spa of Pamukkale resides.

Pamukkale which means cotton castle, has been formed over time by the natural hot springs, rich in calcium and carbonate, that flow down the slope. We will also visit the ancient Roman Health Spa of Hierapolis, made most famous for it is thermal springs, theatre, Agora and the Necropolis.

After the tour, you will be transferred to your hotel. Overnight in Pamukkale. (Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner)

Day 8: Antalya | Perge, Aspendos, Antalya

After breakfast and checkk out at the hotel, we will hit the road once again, travelling to Antalya.

En route, we will visit the old city of Perge, the largest ancient settling of both Hellenistic and Roman age in the region, which possesses a Roman Bath, Collonnaded Street, Agora, Stadium and Water Aqueduct. These structures are in good order and well protected after excavation.

Second, we visit Aspendos, one of the most important cities of Pamphylia which was the original name of the Antalya region. Aspendos theatre is one of the best preserved Roman Amphitheaters on the Asian continent. Built into a steep hillside and big enough to host 15000 people, this vast semicircular edifice was used to stage plays in second century A.D. Its perfect acoustics means that it’s still used today for operas and ballet festivals.

After the tour, we will return to the hotel. Overnight in Antalya. (Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner)

Day 9: Antalya | Free leisure day

Today is free day for leisure to enjoy at the facilities of your resort hotel. You may experience the pleasant sun, the pristine beaches and delightful waters of the Mediterranean, or you may wish to join optional tours to Old City of Antalya or other sites, such as Phaselis.

Overnight in Antalya. (Breakfast, Dinner)

Day 10: Antalya | Departure

We will pick you up from your hotel in the morning after your breakfast and check out at the hotel. You will then be transferred to the Antalya Airport for your flight to Istanbul Ataturk Airport, from where you will catch your connecting homebound flight. (Breakfast)
