Basic Itinerary

  • Day 1: Arrival at Istanbul | Transfer to your hotel; Some good local restaurants can be pointed out for dinner this evening.
  • Day 2: Istanbul | Sightseeing including the Roman Hippodrome, Blue Mosque, Hagia Sophia, Topkapi Palace and the Grand Bazaar.
  • Day 3: Istanbul / Cappadocia (Flight to Kayseri or Nevsehir) | Full day Northern Cappadocia Tour. Sites observed: Uchisar Castle, Goreme Open Air Museum, Cavusin Old Greek Village, Pasabagi, pottery gallery, Devrent Valley, Urgup Fairy Chimneys.
  • Day 4: Cappadocia | Full day Southern Cappadocia Tour. Sites observed: Goreme Panorama, Derinkuyu Underground City, Ihlara Valley, Selime Cave Monastery, Pigeon Valley, onyx demonstration.
  • Day 5: Cappadocia – Konya – Izmir/Kusadasi | Coach transfer to Izmir/Kusadasi. En route, visit Konya Mevlana Museum
  • Day 6: Kusadasi – Istanbul | Full Day Ephesus and House of Virgin Mary Tour. Transfer to the Izmir Airport for departure to Istanbul
  • Day 7: Istanbul – Homebound departure | Flight back home.

Detailed Itinerary

Day 1: Istanbul | Welcome

You will be met by your guide at the Istanbul International Airport (IST) and transferred to your hotel. After checking into your hotel, you will have some time to relax.

Free leisure day afterwards. Overnight in Istanbul.

Day 2: Istanbul | Full Day Istanbul Tour

After breakfast, your guide will meet you at the hotel lobby for your full-day tour of Old City Istanbul. Following a short drive across the Galata Bridge, we will drop off at the heart of the old city, walk the historic streets of Istanbul.

First, we will visit the Hippodrome; the central square that was once used as a horse racing arena during the Roman and Byzantine times, still adorned with the ancient monuments such as the Snake Column from Delphi, an ancient Egyptian obelisk taken from the Temple of Karnak at Luxor, and the “German Fountain”  commissioned as a gift by Wilhelm II of Germany.

Next, we will visit Hagia Sophia, one of the greatest marvels of Byzantine architecture built by Justinian, the once biggest dome in the world, with its grand pillars from Ephesus. Afterwards, the tour will continue with the Blue Mosque (Sultanahmet Camii), famous with its blue Iznik porcelain tiles and unique with 6 minarets.

The day will continue with a visit to the Topkapi Palace, a huge walled complex hugging the Bosporus, the former palace of the Ottoman Sultans that is now a museum with an extraordinary collection of Chinese porcelain, art, artifacts and jewels including the Topkapi Diamond, and relics from the Prophet Mohammed.

Following Lunch at a local restaurant, we will head towards the Grand Bazaar, the largest and the oldest covered market place in the world with more than 4,000 shops in the labyrinth of streets. Enjoy the colorful array of shops that offer an endless selection of goods that includes jewelry, fabrics, spices and local handicrafts. After all the visits, you will be transferred to your Hotel. Overnight in Istanbul. (Breakfast, Lunch)

Day 3: Istanbul – Cappadocia | Tour of Northern Cappadocia

Early in the morning, after check out at the hotel we will transfer you to Istanbul Airport to catch your flight to Kayseri. Upon arrival you will be met at the airport by your guide and you will start your tour of Cappadocia, including Uchisar Castle, Goreme Open Air Museum, Cavusin Old Greek Village, Pasabagi (Monk’s Valley). After a short lunch break, we will continue our tour by going to a pottery art gallery and carpet factory, unique to Cappadocia. These will be followed by Devrent Valley and Urgup Fairy Chimneys.

After the tour, you will be transferred to your hotel. Overnight in Cappadocia. (Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner)

Day 4: Cappadocia | Tour of Southern Cappadocia

After breakfast, you will be picked up from your hotel at 09:30 for your tour of South Cappadocia. The day will start with the Goreme Panorama for a breathtaking view of Cappadocia, followed by the Derinkuyu Underground City. Afterwards, we will go to Ihlara Valley for a 3 km hike. Following lunch, we will visit the Selime Cave Monastery and Pigeon Valley. The day will end with the onyx demonstration.

After the tour, you will be transferred to your hotel. Overnight stay in Cappadocia. (Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner)

Day 5: Cappadocia – Kusadasi | Konya, Coach Ride to Kusadasi

After breakfast and check out at thehotel we depart for Kusadasi by coach. En route, we will visit the Seljuk and Ottoman city of Konya, known for its great architecture, ancient Sufi traditions and genuine Anatolian feel.

We will first visit the Mausoleum of Mevlana who was a Sufi philosopher. This was also the dervish lodge of the Mevlevi order, better known as the Whirling Dervishes. We will also enjoy lunch at Konya with its famous “etli ekmek” (bread with meat; a variant of the famed lahmacun).

We will then depart Konya en route to Kusadasi. After we arrive, you will be transferred to your hotel in Kusadasi. Overnight in Kusadasi. (Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner)

Day 6: Kusadasi – Istanbul | Ephesus, House of Virgin Mary

In the morning after the breakfast and check out at your hotel you will start your Full Day Ephesus Tour. One of the world’s finest examples of an ancient classical city, Ephesus was once the most important and prominent city in Asia Minor, predating even Constantinople. It housed the Temple of Artemis (Diana), the site of one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World; House of Virgin Mary, probably where She spent the latter years of Her life.

After the tour, you will be transferred to the Izmir Airport for your flight back to Istanbul, where you will be picked up from the airport and transfered to your hotel in Istanbul. Overnight stay in Istanbul. (Breakfast, Lunch)

Day 7: Istanbul | Departure

We will pick you up from your hotel in the morning after your breakfast at the hotel. You will then be transferred to the Istanbul Ataturk Airport for your homebound flight. (Breakfast)
