Detailed Itinerary

Day 1: Antalya | Welcome

You will be met by your guide in Antalya and transferred to your hotel. After checking into your hotel, you will have some time to relax.

Free leisure day afterwards. Overnight in Antalya. (Dinner)

Day 2: Antalya | Perge, Aspendos, Antalya

After breakfast at the hotel, we visit the old city of Perge, the largest ancient settling of both Hellenistic and Roman age in the region, which possesses a Roman Bath, Collonnaded Street, Agora, Stadium and Water Aqueduct. These structures are in good order and well protected after excavation.

Second, we visit Aspendos, one of the most important cities of Pamphylia which was the original name of the Antalya region. Aspendos theatre is one of the best preserved Roman Amphitheaters on the Asian continent. Built into a steep hillside and big enough to host 15000 people, this vast semicircular edifice was used to stage plays in second century A.D. Its perfect acoustics means that it’s still used today for operas and ballet festivals.

Afterwards, we will return to the City of Antalya, and visit the Archaeological Museum of Antalya, which houses many of the excavated treasures and beauties from the ancient cities of Perge and Aspendos. We will shortly pass through the Hadrian’s Gate, built in the name of the Roman emperor Hadrian, who visited Antalya in the year 130 AD, standing proud with its three archways and four beautifuly decorated Roman columns, standing in between what remains of the city’s walls.

After the tour, we will return to the hotel. Overnight in Antalya. (Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner)

Day 3: Antalya – Konya | Aspendos, Mausoleum of Mevlana, Karatay Koran School

After breakfast and check out at your hotel, we depart for Konya by coach. Upon arrival, we will visit the Seljuk and Ottoman city of Konya, known for its great architecture, ancient Sufi traditions and genuine Anatolian feel.

We will first visit the Mausoleum of Mevlana who was a Sufi philosopher. This was also the dervish lodge of the Mevlevi order, better known as the Whirling Dervishes. We will also enjoy lunch at Konya with its famous “etli ekmek” (bread with meat; a variant of the famed lahmacun). Afterwards, we will visit the Karatay Koran School. After the tour you will be transfered to your hotel in Konya.

Day 4: Konya – Cappadocia | Tour of Northern Cappadocia

After breakfast and check out at your hotel, we will depart Konya en route to Cappadocia.

Upon arrival, our tour of the area will start with a visit to Uchisar Castle, Undergorund City of Sarhatli, Goreme Open Air Museum and Pasabagi (Monk’s Valley). After a short lunch break, we will continue our tour by going to a pottery art gallery and carpet factory, unique to Cappadocia. These will be followed by Devrent Valley and Urgup Fairy Chimneys.
After the tour you will be transfered to your hotel in Cappadocia.

Day 5: Cappadocia | Tour of Southern Cappadocia

Very early in the morning, there is an Optional Balloon Tour of Cappadocia that our guests may wish to attent. This tour is very panoramic and beautiful, but requires attendance at 05:00 at the site to catch the morning breezes.

After breakfast, you will be picked up from your hotel at 09:30 for your tour of South Cappadocia. The day will start with the Goreme Panorama for a breathtaking view of Cappadocia, followed by the Derinkuyu Underground City. Afterwards, we will go to Ihlara Valley for a 3 km hike. Following lunch, we will visit the Selime Cave Monastery and Pigeon Valley. The day will end with the pottery demonstration. After the tour you will be transfered at your hotel .

Day 6: Cappadocia – Ankara | Museum of Anatolian Civilizations, Mausoleum of Ataturk

After breakfast, we will check out and depart from our hotel en route to Ankara via coach.

Upon arrival, we will first visit the Museum of Anatolian Civilizations, the greatest archive in the world for civilizations such as the Hittites, Assyrians, Lycians, Lydians and many more which have passed through Asia Minor over the course of history.

Afterwards, we will visit the Mausoleum of Ataturk, the resting place of the father of the modern Republic of Turkey. This great mausoleum was built in the style of the old Greek mausoleums with its columned structure and Turkish influences, in representation of the unity of all ethnicities who at one point have called Anatolia their home.

In the evening, we will return to the hotel. Overnight in Ankara. (Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner)

Day 7: Ankara – Istanbul | Bosphorus Cruise and Spice Market

Following your breakfast and check out from the hotel, we will drive via coach to Istanbul on a scenic and enjoyable route through the city of Bolu. Upon arrival, we will join our tour of Spice Bazaar and afterwards, the famed Bosphorus Cruise.

First, we will make a stop at the Spice Bazaar (Egyptian Bazaar), famous for its immense selection of spices like saffron, oregano, mint, cinnamon, henna for the hair, special Turkish spices for meat, different kinds of pepper, Turkish sweets such as baklava, lokum, and a huge variety of herbal tea.

Afterwards, we will board a specialized tour ferry for an exciting cruise along the Bosphorus Strait, from where you will see the grand Ottoman palaces and castles, including the Dolmabahce Palace, the Beylerbeyi Palace, and Rumeli Hisar and Anadolu Castles – your guide will narrate the history of the city and its landmarks throughout your Bosphorus cruise.

At the end of the cruise, you will be transfered to your hotel. Overnight in Istanbul. (Breakfast, Lunch)

Day 8: Istanbul | Departure

We will pick you up from your hotel in the morning after your breakfast at the hotel. You will then be transferred to the Istanbul Ataturk Airport, from where you will board your homebound flight. (Breakfast)
